Discworld Con

Back from DW Con 2008. Tired now.

Had a lovely time. It's a great (not so) little con, made all the better by being bi-annual, so it's anticipated keenly.
Most of the fans attending don't go to general SF cons, it has a feeling somewhere between a media con and a sf con, kinda the best bits from both - lots of fen in costumes, impromptu filk, organised along the lines of a SF con with OPs and gophers and the like

I got to play Dame Sibyl Vimes (complete with long suffering Samuel trailing behind me) for the Sunday night entertainment and dinner. Had a lot of fun hamming it up, doing my best Joyce Grenfell impersonation. Sir Terrance Of Pratchett is off the xmas card list for telling me that he was reminded of Tim Curry's Dr Frankenfurter; on one hand, Dr F is sexier than god (or even Captain Jack) on the other hand... he's heading for a thick ear.

Hotel was mostly good. Nice rooms, good public space, I'll post more tomorrow on hotel as Life on Mars is coming on and I'm swooning over Ballroom Blitz and the Gene Genie.
