There is 15lbs of cat licking the anthricite in the coal bucket.

I didn't set out this morning to get a cat but I was sort of hanging out on the RSPCA websites and sort of went to just have a look at him.
And sort of came home with him.

He's, well, grey and tabby and overweight.

I think he's going to be called Nero but I've called him Spookie twice now, so, like Peeko - my elderly friend's Scottie - he may end up being Spookie MkII by default (they were on Peeko III when I knew them).

He bit me earlier, my own fault for scaring him, but I think he will be fine.
He's a very fine cat.

Oh, good. "Just looking" may work with dry goods, but not with cats.

Congrats!
Piccies needed to appreciate the furry wonderfulness!

Congrats to Spookie MkII on the new acquisition

Grey, overweight and tabby seems to be the current vogue.

Congratulations.

It's alright.
I can handle it.
I can give up cats any time I like.
Can't I?

Um, well, DrPlokta did give me a digital camera about two years ago... it's here somewhere... I'll try at the weekend.

For those of you who knew the spookster, he's pretty much a carbon copy, not quite as round in the face and has very orange eyes.

yay!

The RSPCA have a website? Where you can browse for cats? Wow. And I thought I was in enough trouble from places like this http://www.internationalcraft.com/index.html and this
http://www.serafinibeadedjewelry.com/
Congratulations, anyway, he sounds lovely. How old is he?
From: [identity profile] frostfox.livejournal.com
Ah, I had the old man put down at the end of September at the grand old age of 22. I think you were busy having an appendix or something at the time?

I miss him but he was so very old and had sort of run out of steam.

MkII has just had a plate of sloppy food (dry food wasn't going down too well) and has just used the litter tray. Ah the joys of cat ownership...

found it by googling on Cats Protection Cheshire, whole list of sites with piccies. Pushers. I didn't need a site visit as the lady I got him off has known me all my life, we had a good talk about my Gran and Grandad and my Dad (and my vet nurse, Maxine who I was at school with) etc etc.

He's 18 months old and, ahem, big boned.

He's nervious of me when I stand up and bit my hand earlier when I spooked him, he has a dislocating back hip, I might have touched it wrong.

He came with his own scratching post, cat litter portaloo, cat bed and toy dog (which he apparently takes to bed with him every night, no matter where you put it in the room) I saw how soft he was with the carer at the cattery and he'd been there for two weeks, once he settles he will be fine.

Finger less sore now I have dosed it with Dettol.

poor thing, cat that is. and hope your finger recovers. He takes his toy to bed every night? That is the cutest cat thing I've heard in ages.
Have just spent last 20 minutes looking at our local cats protection website, rspca one less useful. Sigh.
Not that shadow isn't enough cat for any sane person, you understand.
btw, if you have a moment, go have a look at the 2nd website I posted, the serafini one. Amazing stuff.

finger will be fine, I've been mauled by a cat before. Typing is fun though.

He's just killed a pheasant feather, must get him some dangly toys, I'd forgotten how playful young cats can be.

Yay! I expect he'll be a very happy cat indeed.

On the weight issue, our Two Fat Ladies were 7 and 6.5 Kg when they arrvied, and the vet immediately put them on obesity control food. Turned out they really enjoyed it, and it left them feeling full enough not to moan. They are now a more reasonable 4.7 and 5.3 Kg (Frigg who was the larger of the two is now the lighter), and far too active for middle aged pussies.

He keeps looking for the strange cat in the glass at the front of the TV corner unit, keeps huffing at it and going behind it to find the interloper.

Finger is sore but not swolen or red and I'm up to date on Tetanus jabs, cautious is good, he will be fine.

Licking the coal, eh?

Good to hear you found a suitable cat. Somehow I didn't think it would be long...

I'm sorry -- I hadn't heard. I believe I was up to my eyes in politics about then. New one sounds nice though!

I was sort of hanging out on the RSPCA websites

The way you do.... 'cos, like, they're *the* place to hang out...

Glad you found a cat. Every home should have at least one (barring those with resident allergy sufferers of course)
