Holiday day the nth
May. 3rd, 2013 10:21 pmDecamped from my beloved Portmeirion to Gwesty Gwernan, in the shadow of Caer Idris (password for network, gwestygwernan... just in case you were wondering) Wifi considerably less flaky than at PM...
We had a good bye brunch at Glaslyn Ices (bacon and egg barm and an ice cream!) after cleaning out the cottages, then everyone except Jaine 'n Dave 'n I went home and we drove down to Caer Idris to Gwernan, a lovely little pub on the slopes of the mountain for a couple of days of further indulgence, an early birthday present form J & D.
We drove down to Tywyn but the Town and Gown (bookshop with adjacent tea room) is now just a tea room, via Aberdovey and it's local ice cream shop.
Tomorrow we plan to walk from Dolgellau to Barmouth down http://www.mawddachtrail.co.uk/mawddach-trail.html. Tonight we had salmon in mirin sauce followed by syllabub in Dave and my case and salt toffee cheese cake in Jaine's. Both with nice wine. Bit squiffy now.
My lovely (and large) single room overlooks the main trail up Caer Idris and comes with home made biscuits, a chocolate and a bathroom across the corridor (private to me, with its own key and all - I have decided to keep it unlocked, the three other couples in the pub all have their own en-suites and I doubt the area is rife with toiletry thieves...) I may need my ear plugs tonight, it's a bit windy out there and the wind is howling round the walls.
Photo of the view from my window under the cut.
