Any of my fannish friends want to go to the pre Hugo bash and the Hugo ceremony? Invite is for you and partner.
I can't go to Torcon (new house - 19 Boundary St, Lostock Gralam, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 7NG) but as I am a Hugo nominee, I can nominate someone to be my acceptor (low hassle job, I don't have a cat in hell's chance of winning) you go to the party and get priority seating in the ceremony.

Any members of the Cabal have an invite anyway for Plokta but I wondered if any of you wanted to go?

Let me know asap if you are going to Torcon and are interested.

Jordin and I will be there as usual. If nobody else has volunteered, we'd love to be your acceptors.

I was assuming you and Jordan will be going to the ceremony and party anyway? If not, then I would love you to be my acceptor, it's an hounourary post anyway, you won't need to actually do anything appart from go to the party, have your picture taken as me for the Fanart nominees and have a groovy time.

I will be thinking of you!

Well, I almost always go to the ceremony but last year was my first year at the beforehand party, as the guest of one of the nominees. Jordin sometimes goes and sometimes doesn't. For this he'll go. ;-) So let whoever needs to know that we're your offically designated representatives so we'll be on the proper lists and send me an acceptance speech Just In Case.

Congratulations on the new house, as well as the nomination :-) I'm not Torconing, so I can't jump up and down and yammer "Me, me!" :-)

Oh, yes please!

Right then, I'll have to figure out what I can smuggle through the post to you that would be peachy keen... Though somehow I suspect a bottle of peach wine would be intercepted.

You are correct on the Torcon thing, my job won't give me that weekend off and my job isn't paying me enough either, so I cannot go. I really wish I could because I want to see Toronto. Especially the infamous nightclub where the film scenes for the American Queer as Folk. That would have been sweet to invade with some fellow fannish poofs.

Oh and due to my nick naming at Minicon I think I have campaign slogan for TAFF. Mishalak: Gay Elf Boy for TAFF!

"Lostock Gralam" sounds as though he ought to be a character (hero or villain?) in a bodice-ripping period romance....

I was thinking more epic fantasy just finished re- reading the first 3 books of A Song Of Ice And Fire and if Martin can have a lord named after the fabled land of Bolton, I can have a hero called Lostock Gralam.
I am a bit obsessed with ASoIaF at the moment, my head is full of geneology and plots within plots within plots.

This brings to mind the famous Luton business in Space 1999; the US producer thought it shounded a very alien name so there was an episode called Rules of Luton.
Which was awful, if I remember correctly -it was the late 70's when I last saw Space 1999 - it used to be prime time 8pm viewing on Friday night.

But surely every episode of Space: Nineteen Pounds and Ninety-Nine Pence* was awful?

* The budget for the special effects. Not for each episode, either....

Sadly, I won't be able to go to Torcon either, being in the midst of moving out. :/
