Bounce bounce
Mar. 29th, 2003 09:53 pmI already posted this in my journal, but I really wanted to post it here, so I am, cos I know no shame!
And Bohimiancoast has told me how.
Pardon me while I froth a little.
I received a letter today, a self portrait I did for a Channel 4
documentary has been chosen as part of a traveling exhibition which will be shown at art galleries across the country.
And the exhibition starts with a reception at the National Portrait
Gallery in London in April.
Let me say that again.... A picture of mine will hang in the National Portrait Gallery from 10th April until 22nd June.
The National Portrait Gallery! Wow! I'm dead chuffed.
It will then go on tour, National Gallery Cardiff, 3rd July to 30th
August. Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art, September 13th to November 16th. Manchester Art Gallery, November 24th to January 20th. Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast, February to March 2004.
I am quite relieved that I'm not one of the dozen self portrait artists chosen to be part of the TV programme itself. I'm not really up for a tv appearance. Even if it's only five minute progs after the evening news on C4, don't want to be a freak show.
The self portrait I did was done at work, in about 15 minutes in ballpoint pen, it's me belly dancing, so I suppose I had better wear a swooshy skirt to the reception. Boom chakka, boom chakka boom.
Usual suspect, Bohemiancoast, is going with me, she works next door to the gallery, expect a Plokta article Real Soon Now. But no bloody moose, you sods.
I'm just glad this didn't clash with going to the US for Minicon. This is turning into quite some year for me.
But no house yet, all I can afford are crappy areas (
Wythenshawe for the most part, shudder)where even fools fear to tread. Sulk. I hate being poor.
