Busy, busy, busy
Apr. 9th, 2011 09:12 pmUp early yesterday, washed hair then off to Victoria Infirmary to phlebotomy lab, I'm involved in a CVD study at my local GP's (bad history of heart problems in the family). My, they are good at taking blood, fast, painless, nice lasses, had a laugh with them.
Then werk, on late shift last week, 10 am to 6.30pm, team leader tells me she is very impressed with how fast I have picked up job, confess that job is dull as ditch water, but like it because of the people, including her, she is mad cat woman, there are three of us on a team of six. Win.
Had email from previous colleagues, that contract is going to hell in hand-basket, two of three key players are off work with stress, too much work, not enough resources, so very glad I am out of there.
Today I was also up early, off to see this http://www.manchestergalleries.org/whats-on/exhibitions/index.php?itemID=77 with Eric 'n Debs - very worth seeing, particularly like his work in steel, giant plates and anamorphic objects, the very construction of which boggles the mind. Can you imagine the work in anodizing or lacquering a plate 20 foot across, mind boggling, as well as very beautiful. They also produce strange audio effects, anyone who has been to Jodrell Bank and played with the audio dishes will know what I mean, whispers can be heard across the gallery, most odd A lot of 'modern' sculpture leaves me cold, but his work is very accessible and very interesting.
Lunch in gallery cafe, then back to car via Chinatown and Chinese bakery, pork buns and red bean paste buns for tea. Om, nom, nom.
Northwich in the afternoon, too nice a day to stay inside, dropped off romance novels (from Mum) at charity shop, walked round town and did the weeks shopping.
Now drinking red wine and watching Firefly, think this is only the third time I've seen it, maybe fourth? Doesn't Jayne remind one of Richard the Rampant? Or is it just me? Busy few weeks coming up. Going to Criccieth for Easter, hear that my hotel now has draft beer as well as free wifi, hopefully Mŵs Piws?
Tomorrow is also set to be fair, walk round Fury Woods beckons. Of course, it will rain for me going to Wales!
Max is out a lot of the time, arch enemy Yang is off while his dad looks after girlfriend with cancer (still thinking positive thought in their direction, no one deserves cancer, let alone her) so Max has ascended local cat hierarchy, plus mile weather is an invitation to be Bad Cat (tm) in adjoining woodland.
Oops, he's just come in growling, better go calm the savage breast...beast, whatever.
