Dec. 5th, 2009 07:33 pmI should have been at Mum's today but the car (on death row, if you recall) developed an interesting knocking sound this week.
So I decided a 120 mile round trip across the moors was possibly not a good idea.
I don't think it's anything particularly serious, sounds like something has broke lose, front, nearside. It's handling okay, not pulling, no sogginess in the brakes, but as my knowledge of cars can be written on the back of a postage stamp, I think I made the right decision.
My cousin comes tomorrow so we can go on a car hunt of the local area.
I expect to have a new, second hand, car by Monday.
Silly purple car cost £k and has lasted 10 years, it doesn't owe me anything.
I went into Warrington instead of Mum's, that was easy, bus goes from the end of my road. 12:00 bus gets me there for 12:35 and I came back on the 3:45. Return ticket was just £3.35, Warrington has all the shops I could wish for and, while busy, wasn't silly like Chester and Manchester would have been. Xmas present shopping is all done. Hurrah! Even got Max an early present (tin 'Beware of the Cat' sign) for in the front window. Now visitors can't say they haven't been warned.
Time to mull some wine and wrap some of the buggers. Including Bill's fish bait. Not many people get crab and crayfish bait for a present, and that's one of the more normal flavours, pineapple, chocolate, cat food you name it, they fish with it. I did check before I bought the bait - it doesn't... wriggle does it?.
He's nearly 80 and impossible to buy for, so I have him a copy of Hot Fuzz, some bait and a Sat Nag, http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/new-arrivals/sat-nag/index.html not that he really needs one, having Mrs Bucket sat in the passenger seat...
It occurs to me that it is B,C and R's party tonight, do enjoy yourselves, chaps.
