Three cheers for Argos Direct
Dec. 24th, 2005 10:11 amCustomer service above and beyond the call of duty.
I bought a new washing machine last January, it has a leak.
Every morning there is a small but significant little puddle on the tiles in the kitchen.
So I called their service line, booked a visit for next week when I'm off work and they said I needed to show the engineer my receipt to prove it's still in warranty. No problemo, thinks I.
Wrong.
I turned the bureau upside down looking for the reciept.
I even found the fifteen year old one from the last machine but not the one for the current machine.
I couldn't even recall who I'd bought it off, complicated by me buying it off Mum and my joint card for which I don't get bank statements, she does, and for which I don't have internet banking, I now do.
So I had a trip into town to the bank, they found the January statement, bought it from Argos Direct, hence no reciept (possible I printed an order confirmation out but I never found that and it might have been thrown away, it doesn't have the importance of a receipt in my mental in-box).
I tried to log into the Argos Direct webpage but for some reason it didn't love me or my password so I emailed their help team.
Who e-mailed me back this morning with the order number and a phone line to call.
So I did and a nice young lady in the depths of Essex somewhere is posting me a VAT invoice today.
Service call is logged for Friday am so as long as that bit of paper arrives (and I have every faith in her!) we should be sorted. My money is on a stray sock.
So big cheers for Argos Direct customer service team for saving my bacon.
FF and they all lived happily ever after.
