I need a coal bin/wood shed.

Just put a big log on the fire from one of the bags outside. I gave it a good shake and dislogded a couple of worms, a spider and an earwig but at least one spider, several wood lice and a centepede have met a cruel firey fate on the stove - the poor little buggers are hiding in a crack in the log but I fear they are doomed. Sob.

I feel like a murderess.

FF, considering converting to Jainism?

I've been putting logs on a halfway-stage of sheets of newspaper just inside, to try to avoid that. Dunno if you've got room to do it, though.

TBH, I doubt a wood shed would stop that. They'd crawl in there anyway.

Don't discourage me! It's your worms I'm trying to save here!

Can you start by putting them back in the can please ;-)

As much as I laud your concern for the bugs, really, if they insist on hiding, then its their own silly fault. You tried to shake them out.

Hmmm... Well, I can't feel sorry for the spider. Mine know they have to stay outside or die. I've posted it clearly at all entrances. Maybe you could try signage... "Exit here or else!"

I will be happy to send you my ants...they would love a good home with a loving landlady and room to grow. ;-)

ewww! Bugs are the thing that creep me out. I've had nightmares about them. There were a few scenes in King Kong with gigantic bugs that are just... wrong.
